The Chrome team is actively developing built-in AI capabilities, offering web developers a new way to approach common client-side AI tasks. Our goal is to provide a simple path by using efficient and effective, browser-managed AI models (such as Gemini Nano in Chrome) accessible via high-level APIs.

Recent EPP additions include:

• A Prompt API with multimodal capabilities to process visual and audio information alongside text with Gemini Nano for tasks like image description or transcription.
• The Firebase team's Firebase AI Logic which enables a hybrid AI approach where AI tasks run efficiently on-device with built-in AI APIs or in Google Cloud, depending on the capabilities of each user’s device and browser.
